Newport Spring

Programme Information

September 2019

Dear Parents,

Thank you for booking our 5 - day spring programme, 30th September - 4th October at Newport Community Centre, 11 - 13 The Boulevarde, Newport Beach.

What to expect?

Directed by NZ born, Sydney based tutor Megan Hanley, accompanied by local child support personnel Christine Doutty, with assistants Alyssa Coxall and Bridie Brennan.  We will inspire and education your children with this 'Series IV season' - 'The Wind in the Willows' written by Kenneth Graeme.

We have daily warm - up to funky soundtracks, with storytelling and script work.  We accessorize with our 'wearable art costumes' as we visit the colourful characters of Toad, Badger, Ratty and Mole.  We'll rehearse as a cast, a specially designed artistic direction, to have fun learning creative skill-based techniques to portray lots of character roles, as we act toward a 'sharing of work' performance come final day.

This year's spring season will focus on expanding the 'Wayfarers All' chapter and introduce children to the 'Audition technique filmed reel concept', as well as welcoming the return of the 5 - year old's chorus acts.

Parents Contract:

  • Registration Forms are important to bring us updated health information and any requirements allowing us to provide the best possible care for your child.  Please assure it is filled out and returned before the programme commencement date.

  • Drop off and Collection: You will be asked to sign a 'Sign in and Out' form each day and provide information of anyone you assign to collect your child on your behalf.

  • Code of conduct: We ask you to kindly take time before the holiday programme to explain to your child / ren the 'code of conduct' that would see them behave in a manner that allows them to learn yet have fun in our safe and exciting environment.

  • Limited numbers: We are gearing the programmes toward a comfortable capacity, which is 16 - 24 bookings so please secure you're booking with a 50% deposit.

We invite parents to a 'sharing of work' on our final day.

Please arrange to be there by 4:00pm.  This is really not to be

missed, as children love to show you their progress.

What to Bring Each Day: Be sure to bring morning and afternoon tea, a drink and a lunch pack.  No nuts please!  Please advise your child / ren not to share foods as a safety measure toward allergies, etc....

What to Wear: Comfortable clothes to move in, tank tops and leggings are good, a leotard or shorts help to put costumes over top.  Runners, dance shoes or bare feet are fine.  Please dress children in black, white or neutral colours for the 'sharing of work'.

Please don't let children bring their own toys or jewellery to the programmes - it only distracts them and there's a risk they can be lost.

Photography & Media Kits: Please indicate if you would like our media kit service, on your registration form...

We capture magic moments during the workshops and 'sharing of work' performance as photographic memorabilia for you to have as your own DVD of the 'sharing of work performance'.  NB: We do not charge for this service, so there needs to be a display of interest for us to film on your behalf.

Scholarships: We offer scholarships to outstanding children who show promise, exhibit supportive behaviour during the programmes as those who help create a healthy working environment during the workshops.  Scholarships will be announced at the 'sharing of work' on the final day.

Congratulations to Winter 2019 Scholarship Winner...
