December 2019

Dear Parents / Caregivers,

Thank you for your interest toward our Summer Programme, January 20th - Friday 24th, at Newport Community Centre.  11 - 13 The Boulevarde... With 'Special 10th year D.R.E.A.M. 2020 Celebration Saturday 25th January... Event to be confirmed as number dependant, otherwise, the summer programme of 'Sea Scene Nor' - Series X will be produced... as 5 - day programme.

'Sea scene nor' - Latin Beach Party theme!... 'Sea Scene Nor' is a comical pantomime based around 'Flavio' - from ' soccer mad - Brazil'.  Set at an Australian seaside camping ground, 'Flavio' comes down under to relive his 2011, '15 & '19 'Rrrrrugby World Cup' memories with the locals!...

What to expect?

20th - 25th January 2020

As Umbrella Studio's Producer, I look forward to directing this 'D.R.E.A.M. 2020 Programme Special' and welcome the return of 'Scholarship Assisting Marshal' Alexandra Binns, with '2019 International Scholarship winner' Eru Heke, alongside our fabulous Drama tutor - William Atkin, all en route from NZ to Sydney.

Back up Plans: Should we get the holiday season groundswell of bookings we will be able to direct the 'Special 10 - year Celebration' we have in mind... We'd prefer a cast of 30 - for such an effort.  Alternatively, we'll present the Summer Season on the Friday as usual... should we only achieve a cast of 15-20 over the holidays.

The week will detail drama and pantomime workshops, with dance amalgamations to soundtracks with wearable art costumes.  Warm-up exercises to funky soundtracks, drama scripts and lots of fun while learning creative art techniques.

We work as a cast studying each other's roles, being directed for the filming of our DVD as a complimentary debrief for all children, with an act based on historical writings about the early days of Australia and Newport... around the cultural interaction of Rugby!

On Wednesday, weather permitting, we'll conduct our 'Bilgola Pool Excursion', being our 10th year tradition... we'll hike across the hill and enjoy a supervised swim and lunch by the pool.  With gigantic spectacular floaters for the older children, parents are welcome to join in should they wish.

As well as our daily routine of 'warm-up class' and 'Postman - Postman game' to reveal our costumes, there's a medley of Latin - American dance moves, drama techniques, pantomime and work with stage sets and props.  We'll present our  'sharing of work' performance at 4.00pm on Friday 25th for family and friends.  Or you will be advised about the Saturday 2 - 4pm Special Celebration!
